Avengers: Endgame Takes the All Time Box Office Crown Back From Avatar
A second weekend of the Endgame Encore rerelease pushed the 2019 Marvel blockbuster past Avatar by a razor thin margin, just ahead of Avengers: Doomsday.
Avengers: Endgame is the highest grossing movie of all time again. Thanks to the Avengers: Endgame Encore rerelease, the 2019 Marvel Studios blockbuster has climbed back past Avatar on the worldwide box office chart, and the margin is tiny.
Endgame now sits at an estimated $2.9255 billion globally. Avatar is at $2.9237 billion, which means the gap between the two is only a couple million dollars. This past weekend, the Encore rerelease added $4.4 million domestically and $14.4 million overseas, and that was just enough to flip the rankings.
The timing is no accident either, the rerelease is meant to get fans fired up for Avengers: Doomsday, which hits theaters December 18, and so far it is doing exactly that.
