Freaky Nikki Will Give Away Items to First 100 Guests Each Night at Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood

Find the character from Obsession roaming the streets, share the secret Instagram phrase, and get a special surprise if you're among the first to track her down.

Universal Studios Hollywood has added a giveaway component to Freaky Nikki's appearances at Halloween Horror Nights this year. The character from the horror film Obsession will be roaming the event streets, and the first 100 guests to find her each night and share a secret phrase will receive a special item.

The separately ticketed event starts September 3 and runs select nights through November 1. Universal will post a different secret phrase each event night as part of their Instagram story, and guests who spot Nikki and say the phrase will get a giveaway item while supplies last.

The giveaway is limited to one per guest and subject to change. Universal has not said whether Nikki will continue roaming the streets after the first 100 items are distributed each night, which could lead to guests approaching her with the phrase only to find the promotion already finished.

Who Is Freaky Nikki

Nikki comes from the hit horror film Obsession. In the movie, she starts as a kind and funny friend and co-worker to Bear, who has romantic feelings for her but is too afraid to tell her. Bear uses a supernatural One Wish Willow to wish that Nikki would love him, which transforms her into Freaky Nikki.

The wish turns Nikki intensely attached to Bear. She needs constant reassurance, has to be near him at all times, and becomes jealous of anyone who takes attention away from her. Throughout the movie, her behavior becomes more bizarre and violent.

At Halloween Horror Nights, Nikki will appear in her Freaky Nikki look. She'll likely be portrayed by a young woman with blood-splattered makeup and clothing, which will be the only way to distinguish her from other guests walking through the event.

The addition of Freaky Nikki to Halloween Horror Nights has proven controversial. The character is perceived as more of a victim than a traditional Halloween Horror Nights slasher-type character, given that her condition is the result of someone else using supernatural means to make her love him.

Universal Studios Hollywood recently revealed the full details for their Halloween Horror Nights event this year and promised that Freaky Nikki would be roaming the streets during the event. The Instagram giveaway element is a new component added to those character interactions.
