Monstropolis Food Revealed: Eyeball Ramen, a Sushi Chef With Tentacles and the First Taste of Blort
Disney shared the first look at the two restaurants coming to Hollywood Studios' Monsters, Inc. land, while the door coaster's track goes up. Here's everything we know about Monstropolis so far.

Monstropolis is starting to look like a real place, and now it has a menu. Disney gave fans a first look at the food coming to the Monsters, Inc. land at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and the theme is what Disney's culinary team calls grossly fun: familiar flavors with monster sized twists.
There are two restaurants so far, and both are planned for the land's first phase in 2027. At the same time, construction has hit some big milestones, including track going in for the land's headline roller coaster.
Harryhausen's
If you've seen Monsters, Inc., you know the name. Harryhausen's is the sushi restaurant where Mike takes Celia on a date, right before Boo shows up and causes chaos. Disney is bringing it to life with a menu built around sushi and ramen.
The ramen bowls being explored start with traditional Japanese flavors, like a rich tonkotsu broth and alkaline ramen noodles, then add monster touches such as fishcake sliced to look like eyeballs and green eggs.
The star of the room won't be on the plate. Harryhausen's will have an animatronic sushi chef who prepares dishes with tentacles while guests watch, just like the chef in the movie. Disney first showed a sneak peek of the figure in August.
Harryhausen's will be the more involved meal of the two, with the animatronic chef as its centerpiece, while Archie's is built for a quick slice between rides. Disney hasn't confirmed how reservations or ordering will work at either one yet.

Archie's Scare Pig Pizza
The second spot is a quick service pizza place themed to Monsters University. In the story, it's where generations of monster college students hung out after class. It's named for Archie the Scare Pig, Fear Tech's six legged mascot, who was famously borrowed by MU students and became a fan favorite on both campuses.
The drink everyone is talking about is Blort, one of the most popular sodas in Monstropolis. Disney says expect something like a purple frozen version of the soda, topped with Scream Apple Foam, and jokes that no human has ever tasted it before.
Archie plays a real part in Monsters University, the 2013 prequel, where students make off with the Fear Tech mascot as a prank, so the restaurant name is a nod to fans who know the film well. A purple frozen drink with an apple foam also fits the bright, cartoony look Disney has shown for the whole land.
Disney stressed that these are early ideas. Final menus, prices and exact opening dates haven't been announced, and some items could change before the restaurants open.
What else is in the land
Monstropolis is replacing MuppetVision 3D and the Grand Avenue area of Hollywood Studios, and it opens in waves. The first phase, planned for 2027, includes the two restaurants and a new show in the former MuppetVision theater, which becomes the Glob Theater.
That's a lot of history going away. Muppet*Vision 3D had played at the park since 1991, and the area around it was rethemed as Grand Avenue, styled after downtown Los Angeles, in 2017. The theater building itself survives, now dressed up for its monster tenants.
The show is called Welcome to Monstropolis. Mike and Sulley host it, and it features an original song of the same name by Disney Legend Randy Newman, who wrote the music for the original film.
Monsters, Inc. already has a presence at Disney World. The Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor comedy show has run in Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland since 2007. Out west, it's the reverse story: Monsters, Inc. Mike and Sulley to the Rescue! at Disney California Adventure is reported to close in early 2027 to make room for an Avatar land, so Florida's new land arrives right as California's ride goes away.

The door coaster
The land's big ride is a coaster themed to the movie's famous door vault, where millions of closet doors fly around on rails. It will be Disney's first suspended coaster, with riders hanging below the track, and its first vertical lift, taking guests straight into the scene from the film.
Track and support columns are now installed inside the coaster building, and walls are going up to enclose it. Disney hasn't announced a date for the coaster, and it's expected to follow the rest of the land, likely in 2028.
Construction you can see
Guests can already spot plenty of progress from the walkways. Concrete has been poured for a new fountain near the land's entrance, which replaces the old Miss Piggy fountain, and monster scale theming has started appearing on the entrance columns.
Monstropolis is one of several big projects reshaping Hollywood Studios. If you visit while it's under construction, expect walls around that corner of the park, and plan your day around the open attractions.
Elsewhere in the park, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is getting fresh paint as part of an ongoing refurbishment, and steel framework has gone up for a project known as Project Fedora near the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. Disney hasn't said what Project Fedora is, but it adds to the sense that Hollywood Studios is in the middle of a big makeover.
When can you go?
Disney hasn't given an exact opening date beyond 2027 for the first phase. The restaurants and Welcome to Monstropolis are expected first, with the door coaster after. When dates arrive, expect the first weeks to be very busy, especially for a dining reservation at Harryhausen's.
Until then, our crowd calendar has day by day forecasts for Hollywood Studios with real park hours and live waits, so you can plan your next visit around the lighter days.
