Rock 'n' Roller Coaster's Giant Guitar Gets Snowy for the Muppets Obligatory Holiday Overlay

The overlay opened Wednesday at Disney's Hollywood Studios with holiday touches in the pre-show, the queue and the ride photos, and it runs through January 6, 2027.

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is officially in the holiday spirit. The Obligatory Holiday Overlay opened Wednesday, November 4, at Disney's Hollywood Studios and runs through January 6, 2027.

The big guitar out front now has seasonal graphics, the pre-show has new Muppet moments, and the ride itself plays brand new holiday songs from The Electric Mayhem. This is the first holiday season for The Muppets on this coaster, and they came ready.

The giant guitar outside has joined in, with new sticker style graphics marking the season. A black banner above the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster logo now calls out the Obligatory Holiday Overlay in white capital letters, and the asterisk adds to the deliberately matter of fact look.

White snowflakes and little snow dots surround the dimensional lettering, stretching from the start of the attraction name to the end of the word Coaster. The graphics have black outlines and blue shadows, so they pop against the guitar's psychedelic design.

The seasonal pieces sit right on top of the sweeping multicolored artwork. Yellow stars and a colorful spiral still decorate the rest of the guitar, and the regular Starring The Muppets logo stays put below the attraction name.

In the courtyard, holiday rock and roll music fills the air. The overlay brings four newly recorded holiday inspired tracks performed by The Electric Mayhem, including collaborations with special guests.

Updated posters in the queue point to the overlay and tell guests the Electric Mayhem are putting on a holiday concert. That sets up the whole theme before you ever reach the pre-show.

The pre-show has a few fun updates. Scooter is wearing a Santa hat, and there are decorations and presents for the three featured artists. Gonzo and Rizzo also make an appearance in their Muppet Christmas Carol outfits.

Holiday props are scattered through the existing props in the queue and the load area, including around the Muppet Mobile Lab. Even the miniature Squeakeasy built for the rats got decked out, in an adorable tiny way.

Once you are on board, you will hear one of the four new holiday tracks. Our first ride came with Little Saint Nick as the soundtrack, right through that iconic launch.

Disney also released new on ride photo designs for the overlay. Three Muppets designs are available, and they run from November 4 through January 6, the same dates as the overlay.

Your photo sits in a rainbow striped frame with the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Starring The Muppets branding. It is a fun keepsake if you want proof that you rode with the Electric Mayhem at the holidays.

Four tracks might not sound like many, but each ride sounds a little different. If you are heading to Hollywood Studios before January 6, 2027, which song do you hope you get?
