Art the Clown Teams with Killer Klowns from Outer Space in New Halloween Horror Nights Scare Zone
Downtown Clowntown will bring together Art the Clown, the Killer Klowns, and other terrifying circus characters when Halloween Horror Nights 35 kicks off in Orlando on August 28.
Universal Orlando announced Downtown Clowntown today, a new scare zone for Halloween Horror Nights 35 that combines some of the event's most popular clown characters into one nightmarish street experience. The Killer Klowns from Outer Space are teaming up with Terrifier's Art the Clown and other clownfolk to overrun the city that never sleeps.
The official description sets up the premise: The city that never sleeps becomes a waking nightmare when it's overrun by Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Art the Clown and other clownsfolk who can't wait to tear you limb from limb.
The scare zone will take over the New York area of Universal Studios Florida outside the Tribute Store. It marks the first time Art the Clown and the Killer Klowns have appeared together at Halloween Horror Nights, creating an all-star lineup of killer clowns in one location.
The Killer Klowns Return
The Killer Klowns from Outer Space have become regular Halloween Horror Nights favorites since their first appearance. Based on the 1988 sci-fi horror comedy B-movie, the extraterrestrial circus denizens appeared in their own scare zone at the 2018 Orlando event.
They graduated to a full haunted house in 2019 at both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood. The house returned to Hollywood in 2022, cementing the Klowns as recurring characters in the Halloween Horror Nights universe.
Universal's official Halloween Horror Nights Orlando account recently teased the return of the Klowns before today's full scare zone announcement. The teaser generated significant buzz from fans who have been asking for the characters to come back to Orlando.
Art the Clown Makes His Second Appearance
Art the Clown debuted at Halloween Horror Nights with a Terrifier maze in 2025 at both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood. The silent, sadistic clown from the Terrifier franchise immediately became a fan favorite character.
During the 2025 event, Art also occasionally appeared in scare zones and roamed the park beyond his dedicated house. That free-roaming approach allowed the character to terrorize guests throughout Universal Studios Orlando rather than limiting him to a single attraction.
Downtown Clowntown brings Art back in an expanded role. Instead of a solo house or occasional appearances, he'll share the spotlight with the Killer Klowns and other clown characters in a dedicated scare zone environment.
More Scare Zones at Halloween Horror Nights 35
Downtown Clowntown is one of multiple scare zones announced for Halloween Horror Nights 35. Other confirmed zones include the Infernal Carnival of Nightmares and Sideshow of Decay, continuing the circus and carnival themes that run throughout this year's event.
FORTNITEMARES will bring the Fortnite video game's signature Halloween event to life as a scare zone. The zone will feature Freaky Fields, a Halloween-inspired living battleground overcome with a threatening force. Guests will encounter the Battle Bus along with familiar Fortnitemares characters plus a few new additions exclusive to Halloween Horror Nights.
Event Details and Tickets
Halloween Horror Nights 35 at Universal Studios Florida runs on select nights from August 28 through November 1, 2026. The event will feature 10 haunted houses along with the scare zones and street experiences.
Additional entertainment includes a Stranger Things lagoon show and Nightmare Fuel: Blood Noir, a stage show featuring sword swallower Auzzy Blood.
Tickets and packages for Halloween Horror Nights 35 are now on sale. Universal offers options ranging from single night tickets to packages that extend and heighten the experience across multiple visits.
