Back to Hogwarts Returns to Universal Orlando August 1

Universal's annual Harry Potter celebration comes back with entertainment, merchandise, and special food offerings across all three Wizarding World locations, plus a 25th anniversary nod to the first film.

Back to Hogwarts returns to Universal Orlando Resort on August 1, bringing the annual celebration back to all three Wizarding World locations. The event marks the start of the Hogwarts school year with limited time entertainment, merchandise, and food and beverage offerings.

This year carries extra significance. It marks 25 years since the first Harry Potter film was released, and Universal is incorporating that milestone into the celebration across Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure, Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida, and Wizarding Paris at Epic Universe.

Nighttime Show Returns to Hogsmeade

The centerpiece entertainment returns to Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure. Set against the backdrop of Hogwarts Castle, the show features lights and music in a continuous presentation that runs nightly from dusk until park close, weather permitting.

Universal describes it as the perfect end to any celebration. The continuous format means guests can catch the show at any point during the evening rather than planning around specific showtimes.

Hogwarts Express Conductor Offers More Interaction

Guests riding the Hogwarts Express during Back to Hogwarts season will find the train conductor has more to share than usual. Universal encourages guests to take the time to meet him and grab some advice before the new school year starts.

The conductor typically appears before guests board the iconic transportation link between Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. During the celebration, those interactions expand beyond the standard greetings.

25th Anniversary Butterbeer Mug

A new Butterbeer mug celebrates the 25th anniversary of the first Harry Potter film. The souvenir is available while supplies last at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.

Butterbeer remains the most iconic snack at Universal, tasting like a combination of butterscotch and shortbread. The anniversary mug gives fans a way to commemorate both the celebration and the film milestone.

For a limited time, fans can customize their own Lug bag based on their Hogwarts house. The experience offers choices of styles, straps, charms, and other accessories, creating an endless number of combinations that fit individual styles.

The house pride focus runs throughout the Back to Hogwarts celebration. Letting guests customize bags around their chosen house gives them a personalized souvenir that extends beyond standard merchandise.

Enhanced Interactive Wands

New interactive wands offer an elevated experience while practicing wizardry around the parks. The wands feature different effects, illumination, and haptic vibrations that are customized to each spell guests cast.

These enhanced wands are available in each of the Wizarding Worlds around Universal Orlando Resort. The haptic feedback and lighting effects add new dimensions to the spell casting experiences already built into interactive locations throughout the lands.

Hogwarts House Ice Lollies

Hogwarts House Ice Lollies arrive as refreshing treats that showcase each house. The frozen desserts are available in the Wizarding Worlds at Epic Universe and at Eternelle's Elixir of Refreshment in Universal Studios Florida.

Each house gets its own flavor. Gryffindor features strawberry. Slytherin offers lime. Ravenclaw brings blue raspberry. Hufflepuff delivers orange cream.

The ice lollies join the Butterbeer mug and customizable bags in the lineup of limited time food and merchandise. Universal has not specified how long Back to Hogwarts will run beyond starting August 1.
