Fright Fest Returns to Six Flags Darien Lake on September 19 With Two Haunted Mazes and Oktoberfest
The Thrill Capital of New York will transform into Western New York's biggest Halloween experience this fall, with family-friendly activities during the day and two haunted mazes plus scare zones at night.
Six Flags Darien Lake has announced the return of Fright Fest for 2026, with the Halloween event kicking off on September 19 and running select dates through October 11. The park will offer two distinct experiences throughout the day, with family-friendly Kids Boo Fest activities during daytime hours and full Halloween scares after dark.
This year's event is part of Six Flags Entertainment's largest Halloween celebration in company history. Fright Fest at Darien Lake will include two haunted mazes, two scare zones, two live entertainment experiences, nighttime rides, roaming monsters throughout the park and seasonal food and beverage offerings.
Park Manager Jody Brege said fall is an incredible time to visit Six Flags Darien Lake because guests can experience something different from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave. The park aims to deliver a full season of excitement for every guest, from family-friendly Halloween activities and Oktoberfest celebrations during the day to immersive scares and nighttime thrills after dark.

What's Coming to Fright Fest
When darkness falls, Fright Fest transforms Six Flags Darien Lake into a Halloween playground filled with monsters, suspense and unexpected scares around every corner. The specific names and themes of the two haunted mazes and two scare zones have not yet been revealed, but the park confirms they'll be part of the nighttime experience.
The scares won't be confined to just the mazes. Throughout Fright Fest, guests can experience their favorite rides while the park comes alive with Halloween energy, live entertainment and immersive scares. Roaming monsters will appear throughout the park, meaning guests may encounter unexpected frights between attractions.
Six Flags Darien Lake is marketing the event as Western New York's biggest Halloween experience, giving the park a significant seasonal draw for the region during fall.
Kids Boo Fest During the Day
Before the monsters emerge at night, families can enjoy a playful Halloween celebration designed for young ghosts, goblins and adventurers. Kids Boo Fest will take place on Saturdays and Sundays from September 19 through October 11, giving families a way to celebrate Halloween together in a fun and festive environment.
The daytime event will feature a costume parade, trick-or-treating, a hay maze and family-friendly entertainment. Kids will also have access to their favorite rides and attractions throughout the park, along with Halloween surprises scattered around the property.
The dual programming allows Six Flags Darien Lake to serve two different audiences on the same operating days, with families able to visit earlier in the day before the park shifts to more intense Halloween scares once the sun goes down.
Oktoberfest Kicks Off in August
Guests can get an early start on fall festivities during Oktoberfest at Six Flags Darien Lake, which begins before Fright Fest even starts. The festival will run on Saturdays and Sundays from August 8 through August 30, giving guests a chance to celebrate autumn before Halloween takes over the park.
Oktoberfest will feature live bands, ice-cold brews, Oktoberfest food offerings and seasonal flavors and beverages throughout the day. The festival creates a festive atmosphere and extends the park's fall programming beyond just Halloween, adding another seasonal experience for guests looking to visit during the late summer and early fall months.
The combination of Oktoberfest in August, followed by Kids Boo Fest and Fright Fest from mid-September through early October, gives Six Flags Darien Lake a continuous fall event calendar that runs for more than two months.
