Halloween Horror Nights Reveals Infernal Carnival of Nightmares Scare Zone

Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow invite guests into a twisted carnival where every midway game, performer, and shadow hides a new nightmare.

Universal Orlando has officially unveiled the first scare zone for Halloween Horror Nights 35, and it looks like guests will be stepping into a carnival unlike anything they’ve experienced before.

The newly announced scare zone, Infernal Carnival of Nightmares, will bring the event’s overarching theme to life as Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow transform the streets of Universal Studios Florida into a sinister midway filled with horrifying performers, unsettling attractions, and chaos around every corner.

According to Universal, guests are invited to “step right up” and discover “what horrors hide in every shadow at a sinister spectacle decades in the making.” The scare zone will serve as one of the centerpiece experiences during this year’s event, celebrating the 35th anniversary of Halloween Horror Nights.

The announcement further expands this year’s carnival inspired storyline.

Earlier this year, Universal confirmed that Jack the Clown and his longtime rival, Dr. Oddfellow, would return as the event’s central icons. The pair have become two of the most recognizable original characters in Halloween Horror Nights history, and HHN 35 will once again place them at the center of the event’s story.

Infernal Carnival of Nightmares appears to be the perfect setting for their return.

While Universal has not revealed the full layout of the scare zone, the newly released artwork showcases a decaying carnival illuminated by glowing lights, oversized circus tents, twisted midway games, and sinister performers lurking throughout the area. The atmosphere suggests guests can expect creepy clowns, carnival barkers, deranged entertainers, and plenty of surprises hidden throughout the streets.

The announcement also continues one of Halloween Horror Nights’ longest running traditions.

Carnival themed scare zones have appeared at the event several times over the years, but this year’s version appears to play a much larger role in the overall narrative. Rather than serving as a standalone area, Infernal Carnival of Nightmares acts as the central theme tying together the event’s original story and its two iconic hosts.

Halloween Horror Nights 35 is already shaping up to be one of the biggest events in the celebration’s history.

So far, Universal has confirmed the original haunted house Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control, along with Sinners, Stranger Things 5, and several additional original haunted houses that will expand the event’s lineup. Universal has also stated that more haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment, and additional surprises will be announced in the coming weeks.

For longtime fans, Infernal Carnival of Nightmares represents more than just another scare zone.

It marks another chapter in the ongoing story of Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow, two characters whose rivalry has become a defining part of Halloween Horror Nights lore. Their return, combined with a fully realized carnival setting, could make this one of the event’s most immersive street experiences in years.

Halloween Horror Nights 35 runs on select nights from August 28 through November 1, 2026, at Universal Studios Florida.
