Killer Klowns from Outer Space Returns to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood
The cult classic 1988 horror comedy is back for its third run in Hollywood, joining a seven house lineup that runs 42 select nights starting September 3.
Universal Studios Hollywood announced today that Killer Klowns from Outer Space will return as a haunted house for Halloween Horror Nights 2026. The cult classic film about extraterrestrial clowns who wrap their victims in cotton candy cocoons is back for its third appearance at the event, following previous runs in 2019 and 2022.
Halloween Horror Nights 2026 runs 42 select nights from September 3 through November 1. Killer Klowns joins a seven house lineup that already includes Stranger Things, Sinners, Evil Dead, Hellraiser, Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness, and Dead Deader Deadest.
The haunted house is based on the 1988 science fiction comedy horror film from the Chiodo Brothers. Guests will encounter the Killer Klowns as they invade the sleepy coastal California town of Crescent Cove to harvest residents for food.

What to Expect Inside the House
According to Universal's description, guests will try not to become the cotton candy covered snack of some seriously unfriendly visitors from worlds unknown. The evil clowns in the film shot popcorn at their victims using a bazooka like weapon and encased them in cotton candy cocoons.
Horror Nights visitors can expect to encounter Jojo the Klownzilla, Shorty, Jumbo, Rosebud and other familiar clown characters from the film. The Killer Klowns did have a weak spot, though. Touching their big red noses caused them to spin wildly and explode into confetti.
More details about the haunted house are expected to be revealed during the Halloween Horror Nights panel at this weekend's Midsummer Scream convention.

The Property's History at Halloween Horror Nights
Killer Klowns from Outer Space began as the theme for a Horror Nights scare zone at Universal Orlando in 2018 before transitioning to full fledged haunted houses on both coasts in 2019. Universal Studios Hollywood brought the property back again in 2022, making this year's return the third time the house has appeared in Hollywood.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space will also be featured at Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando this year, where the property will appear in a Downtown Clowntown haunted house alongside Art the Clown.
Other Halloween Horror Nights Entertainment
Beyond the seven haunted houses, other Halloween Horror Nights entertainment at Universal Studios Hollywood will include the Fortnitemares scare zone, The Purge: Dangerous Waters stunt show in the WaterWorld theater, and the Terror Tram.
The addition of Killer Klowns rounds out a diverse lineup that spans classic horror franchises like Evil Dead and Hellraiser, contemporary hits like Stranger Things, new theatrical releases like Sinners, and music tributes like the Ozzy Osbourne house announced just days ago.
