Stranger Things: Return to Hawkins Lagoon Show Announced for Halloween Horror Nights 35
The new nighttime spectacular will celebrate ten years of Stranger Things by taking guests through memorable moments from all five seasons of the Netflix series.
Universal Orlando Resort is bringing the entire story of Stranger Things to the lagoon at Universal Studios Florida.
Stranger Things: Return to Hawkins is a brand new nighttime show coming to Halloween Horror Nights 35. The experience will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Netflix series by revisiting characters, locations, monsters, music, and emotional moments from all five seasons.

Rather than focusing only on the final season, Return to Hawkins will look back at the complete journey that began when Will Byers disappeared in 1983 and led a group of young friends into a battle against the Upside Down.
Universal describes the show with three simple words: the music, the monsters, and the memories.
Guests will tune into a special broadcast from WSQK, the fictional Hawkins radio station introduced during the final season, before being taken through some of the most recognizable moments in the history of Stranger Things.
Scenes from the series will be projected across towering water screens in the Universal Studios Florida lagoon. The production will also use projection mapping across nearby buildings, dynamic lighting, fountains, immersive audio, and music selected from the original Stranger Things score.

Jason Horne, assistant director of entertainment creative development at Universal Orlando Resort, said the show was designed to let fans relive iconic moments while celebrating the characters and adventures that turned Stranger Things into a cultural phenomenon.
Horne also confirmed that this is the first time Universal Orlando has created an entire lagoon show around one franchise. Previous lagoon productions have combined scenes and music from several movies or properties, making Return to Hawkins a major change from the format guests may remember.
That allows Stranger Things to receive a much more complete presentation than it could inside a short segment of a larger show.
The series has always placed music at the center of its story, from its synthesizer driven score to songs that became inseparable from major scenes. Universal has not revealed the full soundtrack for Return to Hawkins, but the announcement promises fan favorite music from across the series.
The show will also recreate Hawkins locations through large scale projection mapping. Universal has not listed every environment that will appear, although the production could potentially revisit locations including Hawkins National Laboratory, Starcourt Mall, the Creel House, the Byers home, and the Upside Down.
The announcement was made on July 15, exactly ten years after Stranger Things premiered on Netflix in 2016.
Over the past decade, the series has grown from a mysterious story about a missing child into one of Netflix’s largest global franchises. Its final season brought the story of Hawkins, Eleven, Vecna, and the Upside Down to an end, giving Universal ten years of material to use throughout the new show.
Return to Hawkins will be one of two major Stranger Things experiences offered during Halloween Horror Nights 35.
Guests will also be able to enter a new haunted house inspired by the fifth and final season. The house will take visitors through locations including the Wheeler house, Hawkins National Laboratory, the MAC Z military base, the Upside Down, and the Abyss while Vecna, Demogorgons, and other creatures hunt them throughout the experience.

The haunted house will focus heavily on terror and the final battle to save Hawkins. The lagoon show appears to offer a more emotional companion experience, giving fans a chance to celebrate the entire series without walking through a traditional haunted attraction.
Together, the two experiences will allow guests to enter the final season inside the house and then look back at the full ten year journey from the lagoon.

Stranger Things will also extend into the food and merchandise available during the event.
Universal and Netflix have confirmed themed food and drinks, along with a collection of clothing and accessories inspired by the final season. Items include a recreation of Will’s bomber jacket, Holly’s necklace, a Demogorgon scrunchie, socks, a crossbody bag, and a themed button up shirt.
The combination of a haunted house, lagoon show, merchandise, food, and music makes Stranger Things one of the largest individual franchises represented at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights.
Return to Hawkins will join Nightmare Fuel: Blood Noir as part of the live entertainment lineup announced for Halloween Horror Nights 35. Universal is also preparing ten haunted houses, scare zones, themed food, merchandise, and attractions throughout Universal Studios Florida.
Halloween Horror Nights 35 takes place on 48 select nights from August 28 through November 1, 2026.
The event requires separate admission and is not recommended for children under 13. Universal has not yet released performance times for Stranger Things: Return to Hawkins, but schedules are expected to become available closer to opening night.
For Stranger Things fans, the new production offers something different from the scares found inside the haunted house.
It is a chance to return to Hawkins one more time, hear the music, remember the characters, and watch ten years of Stranger Things unfold across the Universal Studios Florida lagoon.
