Epic Universe Is Adding an Indoor Roller Coaster to Dark Universe, and Construction Has Already Started
Universal confirmed a third ride for the monster themed land, built on an expansion plot behind Monsters Unchained, with no opening date yet.

Dark Universe is getting bigger. Universal Orlando announced Thursday that a brand new indoor roller coaster is coming to the monster themed land at Epic Universe, and building work is already underway.
Universal didn't share much about the ride itself. What we do know is that the story will be inspired by the Universal Monsters franchise, which is exactly the kind of thing this land was made for.
There's no opening date yet. Universal says the coaster will arrive in the years ahead, so this is one to watch for a while.
The new coaster will be the third ride in Dark Universe. It joins two attractions that are already open in the land, and they are very different from each other.
Curse of the Werewolf is an outdoor spinning coaster. Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment is a dark ride that brings together several classic monsters, including the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, the Wolf Man and the Phantom of the Opera.
An indoor coaster fills a spot the land doesn't have yet. Right now the coaster in Dark Universe lives outside, so a monster story told in the dark on a track sounds like a great fit.
Where it's being built
Universal confirmed that the ride is going up on an expansion plot behind Monsters Unchained. Construction has already begun, so this isn't just a concept on a drawing board.
It's also one of the first big expansions at Epic Universe since the park opened in May 2025. Universal teased plans for more attractions even before the park debuted, and the park has several plots set aside for future rides.

One of those plots sits near The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Ministry of Magic. Universal hasn't said what might go there, but it's a reminder that Dark Universe likely won't be the only part of Epic Universe to grow.
More coming across Universal Orlando
The Dark Universe coaster is part of a busy stretch for the resort. Universal has a handful of projects in the works, and many of them are set to open in 2027.
Over at Universal Studios Florida, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is a new high speed coaster inspired by the film franchise. It replaces Rip Ride Rockit.
CityWalk is getting something new too. Luke Combs' Category 10, a music and entertainment venue, is arriving in late 2027.
Closer to opening, Universal is bringing a reimagined Universal Horror Make-Up show to Universal Studios later this year. It will feature movies and franchises from Blumhouse.

For now, the big questions about the new coaster are still open. We don't have a name, a ride system or a date, but we know the monsters are getting another home, and the dirt is already moving.
